I have just read this book on "Dan Pai Wudang Sword".
The book was written in Chinese in 1930 & its now been translated into English.

I liked the eye & foot training methods + the theory behind the exercises.
Its something I will certainly work on for a while.

i think that book should not have the foot training methods becuz i have it. Hunag's another book call "Note of Wudang sword" which is never republished . i hope it may have it but i have not read it before.

The Only book mentioned the general Li's Foot work training is "Kun Wu Jian" From Jiang rong Qiao. It recorded 3 type of foot work.

Cool Could you told me wht is it said in that book about the eye and foot training? Leon Thank you

My ankles used to get very sore/took a long time to build up strength when I was doing lots of Kendo/Kumdo sparring.
The book recomends walking around the house on the sides of the foot.
It states it can be painful at first but greatly builds up strength for nimble footwork.
I have been trying it - its good.

An opening in sword play is tiny compared to unarmed fighting.
This is due to weapon size & methods of countering it.
An experienced fencer only needs a slight changes in hand or body position to attack.
Yet the average fencer will not even see it.
There are drills in Kendo/Kumdo to develop eye work & openings, but this requires a partner.
The book gives you some exercises of focusing on objects at close range & far away to improve quick eyework.
This can be done at home alone.
This is why I also liked this exercise.

Leon

Yes, i just read this section. I missed, i was told this stepping exercise from my bagua side. My Kungfu uncle also told me that the next step is running on the sand. Side foot walking is used to strenghted the tendon of ankle joint. I want to prove this so i asked a doctor and a Physio advice but they cannot give me an answer.

Thank you leon. I may show you another book when i see you next time.
